Untitled (Explosives) (2010) Pencils and Found Explosives Casings

Illustrating the artist’s research into her family heritage, this work combines objects associated with her own profession and that of her Italian great-grandfather, a mine excavator at Nenthead Lead Mine, Northumberland. The work highlights a potential catalystical role for art and artists, as well as current attitudes towards migrants to the UK.

Paracetamol Anaglypta (2001) Paracetymol, UHU glueCommission was for the Old Banqueting Hall in Jesmond Dene, Newcastle. The work acknowledges the potential for drudgery and despair in domestic life and wallpaper as the backdrop to such existence. The Banquetting Hall dates from 1862, when guests of Lord Armstrong where invited to attend glamorous functions. Up to the 70s the Hall was a notorious venue for music, dancing and works dos.
